An internship is a period of work experience offered by an organization for a limited period of time. Internship might be paid or unpaid, few organizations charges for internship and pay’s stipend and few organization charges nothing. We can call this online internship in other ways known as “virtual internship” or “remote internship”. Through Internship, will get the job with “relevant skills”.
Online
Internship is nothing but getting the projects/work done through online without
visiting the office, it’s just like work from home. As it is habituated to many
of the employees from many organizations throughout this pandemic situation.
An
Internship is a very short period of job, might be six months or three months
or less and also the stipend depends on organization’s and institute’s from
start-up to existing organizations and institutions. A virtual internship in
digital marketing “creates plenty of
offers”. While doing digital marketing internships, an individual can work
on another project through some Facebook ads or get clients through up-work, freelancing
etc. (“Multi-tasking and Time Management”).
The only thing is the digital marketer should have a good portfolio to show
their work to the clients. Digital
Marketing has few modules, hence the work differs to person to person. Few can
work on all the modules, few are experts in couple of modules, so they choose
particular modules in digital marketing to work. Digital Marketing creates
plenty of offers through online like by using social media to sell or buy the
goods or services. A digital marketer can manage the work through a good
supported mobile/tab/laptop/desktop.
As it is a
remote internship, an individual can apply for any company regardless of any
location, without relocating and the working hours might get “very flexible”. As a digital marketer, need
to “create and implement effective
social media strategies” designed to help clients find new ways to market
their business. A digital marketer must have all social media accounts like
Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube etc. to create ad campaigns
for the organization to generate leads, viewers, increasing subscribers, etc..,
On-site internship – On-site means we have to travel to office
where it costs time and travelling charges. There is no flexibility in work
hours etc.
Virtual Internship - It provides the intern the flexibility in
terms of managing is personal and professional life. Work can be managed being
at home or while travelling depending upon the domain of work. It is nothing
but an internship where intern is not present at the physical job location
rather it is a remote professional setting in which work experience program is
conducted virtually where the mode of communication can be through phone or
internet. It is a great benefit for the organizations, they can save more money
which is “profitable” for both interns
and organizations.
If your “work is creativity” based, it can be
really difficult to come up with ideas within the office cubicle. From this
point of view, the availability of a remote internship is a boon. You can sit
in any corner of your home, parks, coffee shops etc. from where your creativity
thoughts raise. There is no need to spend your entire day in a small cubicle.
Also, we
need to know few of the disadvantages
in this:
Network Issue’s: We might get some network issues in between
the work, might get one day or couples of days to solve the query once the
ticket is raised with the technical team.
Miscommunication: It is main barrier of the virtual internship,
we might involve in the video calls or email conversation etc., and here there
are chances of not getting the total information or a clear information of the
project/work. Might not get better understanding about the project, hence there
are chances of long conversations which takes time.
Managing things: Sometimes there might be urgency at your
location/personal issues, hence the project might get delayed and need to
manage both personal life and work life accordingly.
Feeling Disconnected: At office, we get immediate
answers while training or while working when we work together with the team as
the communication is easy (face to face), missing learning from others through
buddy-up’s or shadowing. Here, there is a chance of difficulty in knowledge
transfer.
