Gender equality is the state of
equal effort of access to resources and opportunities regardless of gender.
UNICEF says gender equality
"means that women and men, and girls and boys, enjoy the same rights,
resources, opportunities and protections. It does not require that girls and
boys, or women and men, be the same, or that they be treated exactly alike.
Are men and women treating
equally? Why there is discrimination between men and women? How to improve the
equality? Are women empowered when compared to the past and present? Who are
ignored? How to trace this equality?
Mostly women are not treated
equally, they are not getting proper recognition. Hence, women empowerment is
now highlighted to improve the equality, women are still seen as weak because
men are considered as strong. But now-a-days, women are considered as strong
and they are running the businesses successfully, they have good decision
powers which are equal to men.
In 2016, approximately 163
million women started or ran new companies in 74 economies around the globe.
Added to 111 million women who are already running businesses, we can see the
impact of women in business.

Not only businesses, they can run
the home successfully, she can manage the family, she can manage the business,
she can manage the home domestic works, she can look after her child
alternatively.
Note – I am not trying to
degrade men, men also doing their best, they are good master chefs in cooking,
they can earn, paying fees, both man and woman are equal.
I have a question – If a man not
encouraging or not allowing a woman to do the job even after having the right
of equality!! Are women considered or
recognized in the society?
On a global scale, achieving
gender equality also requires eliminating harmful practices against women and
girls, including sex trafficking, femicide, wartime sexual violence, gender
wage gap and other oppression tactics. These violence’s must reduce against
women.
There are many critics against
men that the women are not treating equally, feminist are fighting for women
empowerment.
There are many women leaders in
the world who are already running the businesses out there, they are wearing
fashion dresses, attending parties, smoking, drinking, what not…
Not only businesses, also
involved in political parties like Indira Gandhi, Mamatha Banerji, Sonia
Gandhi, Benazir Bhutto, Angela Markel, Judy Smith, Park Geun-Hye, Dilma
Rousseff etc…
Still women are not empowered?
Also, depends on family to family, they have their own traditions, religions,
and cultures which needs to follow their guidelines, it is not mean that the
women are not considered, they are following their family guidelines and
culture.
You know what, there is a great saying – women are the enemy
for other women, they are almost always comparing themselves with other women, trying
to pull each other down to succeed alone instead of helping each other. Women talk
about feminism and bringing about change. They say, we can dress however we
want to, we can do anything that brings joy to us, irrespective of the opinions
of the society. Then why is it that the very lot of women who speak about
change judge other women, talk about and look disgustingly at them?
There are few scenarios and situation where men are being
dis-respected by women simultaneously there are few scenarios and situations
where women are being dis-respected by man.
Sorry, also want to include the
third gender, however they are also listed as gender, but they are not recognized,
considered, ignored, degraded etc… Every human count’s….
Don’t they have feelings? Don’t
they have rights? Don’t they have family? Why they are not treating as equally?
The subject of transgender is not even discussed in developed circles.
It is also a social category
present in societies, many countries have adopted laws to accommodate
non-binary gender identities.
Arjuna himself is an example of
gender variance. Brihannala, in the Hindu epic Mahabharata, was the name
assumed by Arjuna, who was in disguise as a Transgendered (on account of a
curse by Urvashi, he would become a "kliba," a member of the third
gender). Arjuna dressing up like a woman, he was transformed by Urvashi’s power
into a person of the third sex. This third classification of gender, known as
“tritiya-prakriti” in the Sanskrit language.
Wife of Budha is Ila who is a
king but cursed by Lord Shiva and Parvathi.
Hence it is proved that third
gender is in existence from history and it is not created newly.
Kamla Jaan, Kamla Kinnar, Madhu
Kinnar, Althea Garrison, Amanda Renae Simpson, Estefan Cortes-Vargas, Duda
Salabert, Tessa Ganserer, etc are third gender political leaders from different
locations from the world.
Still, they are not getting
proper identity, not treating equally. Whatever the form which needs to be
filled for different reason don’t include this third gender. They have been
deprived of their fundamental human rights.
Reserve each other (Respect,
Encourage, Strengthen, Enrich, Recognize, Volunteer, Empower).
