Indexing, Crawling and Ranking

Indexing is the process of adding web pages into Google search. Google tries to understand what the page is about and analyzes the content of the page, catalogs, images and video files implanted in a page. The Google Search index contains hundreds of billions of webpages and is well over 100,000,000 gigabytes in size.

Search engines crawl the internet to discover keyword attached to websites and pages. These results are stored and organized into a database called an “index” for quick retrieval. Once content has been indexed, it can be served up on search engine results pages (SERPs) for relevant search queries. Today, Google Search can help you search text from millions of books from major libraries. In short, if you want your content to be found, it needs to be indexed for the opportunity to be seen.

There are a few methods for inviting a search engine to crawl a page in order to be indexed more quickly.

XML Site Maps

Robot Meta Tags

Fetch as Google

Submit URL

Hosting Content

The Sitemaps protocol allows a webmaster to inform search engines about URLs on a website that are available for crawling. A Sitemap is an XML file that lists the URLs for a site.

Meta tags are essentially little content descriptors that help tell search engines what a web page is about. Meta elements are tags used in HTML and XHTML documents to provide structured metadata about a Web page.

Crawling is the first part of having a search engine recognize your page and show it in search results. Crawling is the process by which Googlebot visits new and updated pages to be added to the Google index. New sites, changes to existing sites, and dead links are noted and used to update the Google index. Crawlers use algorithms to establish the frequency with which they scan a specific page and how many pages of the website it must scan.

Googlebot is the web crawler software used by Google, which collects documents from the web to build a searchable index for the Google Search engine.

Ranking - Once a keyword is entered into a search box, search engines will check for pages within their index that are a closest match; a score will be assigned to these pages based on an algorithm consisting of hundreds of different ranking signals.

These pages (or images & videos) will then be displayed to the user in order of score.

So in order for your site to rank well in search results pages, it’s important to make sure search engines can crawl and index your site correctly – otherwise they will be unable to appropriately rank your website’s content in search results.

The Environment

Environment includes living things, non-living things. Environment defines as - The combination of external physical conditions that affect and influence the growth, development, behaviour, and survival of organisms. Global warming has become an undisputed fact about our current livelihoods; our planet is warming up and we are definitely part of the problem. However, this isn’t the only environmental problem that we should be concerned about. All across the world, people are facing a wealth of new and challenging environmental problems every day. Some of them are small and only affect a few ecosystems, but others are drastically changing the landscape of what we already know.   If a human being keeps the environment safe and secure then environment keeps the human being safe and secure. There is a saying that What you give you get in return . Life is an ECHO, it s life cycle. Now-a-days many depends on cement to build houses, malls etc. It’s became a concrete park ...

Human Generation, Technology and Social Media

Now-a-days most of the people are browsing social media. Depending on the generation, people are changing their lifestyles and getting addicted to the social media. Technology is developing very fast based on the generation. People are using technology to develop different social media websites. But, earlier there is no technology and no social media, these generation people are socializing their life’s. We apply technology in almost everything we do in our daily lives; we use technology at work, we use technology for communication, transportation, learning, manufacturing, securing data, scaling businesses and so much more.   Technology is human knowledge which involves tools, materials, and systems. The application of technology typically results in products. If technology is well applied, it benefits humans, but the opposite is true, if used for malicious reasons. A generation is "all of the people born and living at about the same time, regarded collectively." It can a...

Believing in GOD is Right OR Wrong…

Is god really exist? If yes, where? Did you ever seen god? If yes, when, where, how and why? Who is god or goddess? Are we trying to identify him/her? Will you believe in god? If yes, why and how much? Is god really good or bad? Why god is good and why god is bad? Did you ever tried to check whether god really exist or not? If god really exist, then how will he/she appear and disappear? In olden days, many sages meditate and pray for god’s for years, If the god like his hard work and patience of waiting for him then one fine day god appear and ask for a boon. It applies the same here, we have to do hard work and be patience, success comes to you. Both success and god will not come or appear just like that. God is Nowhere, however you understand this, it depends on your perception, is it god is no where or god is now here. I am not trying to say that the god is not exist and you should not believe god. For everything there is a limit, you just can’t keep the lighted candle in ...
